UNO Television's Mission Statement

UNO Television, at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, provides television production, program distribution, and educational services to a diverse group of users on a local, regional, and national level. We operate the Omaha Production Center for Nebraska Educational Telecommunications, one of the country's foremost state networks. We serve and enrich the community through television programming that educates, entertains, and informs. As an integral part of the university, we provide unique educational opportunities to students through training and employment in a professional environment. Our professional staff responds to the varying needs of the UNO community and our viewers through distinctive, high quality programs and the innovative application of technology. We are committed to providing the very best programs and services to a growing number of satisfied users. Located on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus, UNO Television is a unit of the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at UNO. Dr. Gail Baker is the Dean of this college. UNO-TV is also the Omaha Production Center for Nebraska Educational Telecomunications, providing local programing for the Omaha metropolitan area on KYNE-TV ch. 26, as well as producing programs for statewide distribution on the Nebraska Educational Television Network. Our studio also provides a laboratory for UNO broadcasting students where they get 'Hands-On' instruction with professional broadcast equipment from professors and professionals in the industry. Students are also eligible to join the crew of UNO Television to learn more about the art and science of television, as well as gain valuable work experience. We also facilitate distance education and telecourses through our facility. UNO Television is the managing partner of The Knowledge Network. TKN is a non-profit corporation designed to provide educational services via local broadcast and cable television.
